It’s gunna be May (N*SYNC joke).

Which means Summer is on the way! We have compiled some useful tips from our colleagues about what you could do in your garden this summer!

Wow, we’re at the end of April. Time is flying by, so it’s time to say goodbye to April Showers, and hello to almost summer weather (fingers crossed anyway).
With the weather looking brighter it might be time to get back outdoors and taking care of your garden. Here are some useful tips we have gathered that can help you and your green thumb.

Water plants regularly. Sounds like an obvious one, doesn’t it? Well, it’s said to best water your plants early or late to get the most out of the water. Try and recycle water wherever possible. One way to recycle water is to invest in a water butt. Now these can be costly, but are a good investment, especially if you’re conscious of the amount of water you’re using in your garden. I found a great article from Gardener’s World about the best Water Butts in 2022 https://www.gardenersworld.com/product-guides/storage/best-water-butts/ .

Another way to stay on top of your garden is Weed Control. In May it is important we hoe off weeds regularly. Small Footprint Family have created a list of ways to control your weeds without the use of toxic chemicals. You can find this here https://www.smallfootprintfamily.com/10-organic-ways-to-control-weeds . We also find that using our pack of 10 reject printed Tea Towels as a weed blanket can really help limit the weeds in a sustainable way.

One Clever Baggers colleague has given us a great tip for your garden. They said that you could use cut off the long handles off our cotton tote bag and use them for plant supports. The long cotton handles are soft on the plant and support the plants as it grows. Any of our long handles will work, so why not go for a coloured tote bag?

Finally, make sure you keep that garden shed tidy too! Our drawstring bags are great to help tidy and store your tools, screws, blankets and cushions when not in use, and great for keeping them dust free and tidy during the winter periods.
